What to expect on your first visit

We want to be available to share the love of Christ and help you and your family spiritually. Come in and see if Westside is the church for you.

If you’re visiting for the first time, we won’t embarrass you, have you stand up, or ask you to give money. People will be genuinely friendly without being overbearing. We know many people want to check out the church and “be anonymous” for a while—and that’s fine with us!

Our congregation spans a wide range of ages and backgrounds. You'll see people dressed in a wide variety of styles—from jeans and slacks to business suits and dresses. Some have been around church for many years while others are just getting started.

Sunday Morning Gatherings

Our Lord's Supper (Breaking of Bread) service begins at 9:30. This service is for Christian believers and focused on remembering and worshipping Jesus Christ.

However, if you've never attended Westside before, we recommend the 11:00 Family Bible Hour as a good starting point. The first 30 minutes are used for worshipful congregational singing. We use a great variety of music ranging from the older hymns of the faith to contemporary worship songs. The last 45 minutes are devoted to the careful teaching of God's Word. Listen to some of our online sermons to get an idea of what to expect and what’s important to us. Closed-circuit Spanish translation is provided in both of our morning services.

Sunday School classes are provided 10:45 to 12:15 for children ages three through high school. Our goal is to clearly communicate God's Word and plan of salvation to each child and to teach biblical principles for daily living.

A safe, secure and well-equipped nursery staffed by trained and caring volunteers is also available for infants and toddlers up through age 3 for our Sunday morning services.

When You Arrive

Westside is located at 526 SE 9th Avenue in Hillsboro, Oregon (the corner of SE 9th and Walnut). You can park in one of our two parking lots. One is directly in front of the church and a larger one is across the intersection of 9th and Walnut. There are special reserved spots for seniors and the disabled right next to the building. Street parking is also available.

When you enter the building, we encourage you stop at the special welcome table located immediately on your left when you enter the front doors. We'll be glad to answer your questions and help you find your way around. Then come enjoy a free cup of coffee in the Fireside Room with other people who call Westside home. You'll receive a warm welcome!

Getting Plugged In

One of the best ways to get to know people is in one of our small home fellowship groups, called Life Groups. They are one of the core ministries of Westside and provide unique opportunities for group Bible study, building close relationships and learning to minister to one another. Check the Sunday bulletin for times and locations.

We provide excellent options for junior high and high school youth. During the school year, our junior-high and senior-high youth meet in discussion-oriented classes on Sunday mornings, and Bridges (high school) and The Power (junior-high) youth gatherings are held Sunday evenings 6:00-8:00.
